The individuals arrested in connection with the operation have been identified as Ram Dulare, a 52-year-old resident of Makkar Colony, and Ranjit Kumar, a 32-year-old local from the surrounding area. These arrests mark a crucial step in the ongoing crackdown on illegal gambling activities within the region, highlighting the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order.
The Ludhiana police have successfully uncovered and dismantled a gang that was involved in operating an illegal lottery business, leading to the arrest of three individuals associated with the racket. This significant operation has highlighted the ongoing efforts of the police to crack down on illegal gambling activities in the region. The arrested individuals were found to be running an underground operation that had been deceiving numerous victims into believing they could double their money through fraudulent means. The police action comes as part of the authorities’ continuous vigilance against illegal gambling syndicates in the area.
The three suspects arrested have been identified as Ram Dulare, aged 52, from Makkar Colony, Ranjit Kumar, 32, a resident of the Daba Road area, and Barjesh Pal, alias Monu, 27, from Kanganwal. These individuals have been linked to the illegal lottery racket, which was operating without any authorization, preying on individuals who were lured by false promises of high financial returns. The authorities have now successfully apprehended the culprits, putting an end to their unlawful activities, which had been affecting the local community.
Inspector Rajesh Sharma, the head of the CIA-2 unit, detailed the events leading to the arrest during his routine patrol with his team in the Dhandari area. It was during this patrol that they received a tip-off from an informant regarding the suspects’ involvement in running an illegal lottery scheme. The gang was reportedly enticing people by offering them the chance to double their money through gambling. The suspects falsely claimed that their lottery services were legally authorized by the Punjab Government, further deceiving individuals into participating in their illicit activities.
Sharma also mentioned that the gang had set up a base for their operations by renting a shop located on Sua Road. This shop served as the central hub from which they carried out their illegal lottery business, targeting unsuspecting customers. Following a raid at the premises, the police were able to seize a total of Rs 8,200 in cash, along with numerous slips that were used as part of the gambling operation. These slips were likely used to record the fraudulent bets placed by individuals, further implicating the suspects in their illegal dealings.
As a result of the raid and the evidence gathered, the police have filed a case under the Gambling Act against the three individuals involved. This legal action aims to bring them to justice for their involvement in an illicit gambling operation that violated the law and harmed the public by promoting fraudulent financial activities.
In addition to the recent arrests, Inspector Sharma revealed that the three suspects had criminal histories, particularly related to gambling. Ram Dulare had been previously involved in four separate gambling cases, while both Ranjit Kumar and Barjesh Pal each had two gambling-related cases registered against them in the past. Despite their prior involvement with the law, the suspects had continued to engage in these illegal activities, further demonstrating their disregard for the legal system and their persistence in perpetuating unlawful trade. This case serves as an important reminder of the ongoing need for vigilance and strict law enforcement in addressing the problem of illegal gambling.
