Xbox Game Pass is about to expand its library with new titles like Resident Evil 2 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. However, this update also means removing games like GTA 5 and MotoGP 22. Below is a list of all the games coming to the subscription service soon.
Previously known as Xbox Live Gold, the platform will include new releases like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Resident Evil 2. There still needs to be word on when popular Activision Blizzard titles like Call of Duty or Diablo IV will be added. Here’s a preview of the new games arriving on Xbox Game Pass in January 2024.
Close to the Sun – January 3
Released in 2019, Close to the Sun is a first-person horror adventure game where you play as Rose Archer, a journalist trying to save her sister. The game is set in an alternate reality in 1897, where legendary inventors Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison are locked in a fierce rivalry. Fans of the Bioshock series should check it out.
Hell Let Loose – January 4
Hell Let Loose is a realistic, platoon-based, first-person online multiplayer game set during World War II. Players engage in large-scale battles, relying heavily on voice communication for strategy and teamwork. Similar to military sims like Arma 2, it offers proximity, party, and unit-only voice channels for a fully immersive experience.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – January 9
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is an action RPG where you play as Eivor, a Viking warrior, during the Viking expansion between 872 and 878 AD in the British Isles. Unlike earlier Assassin’s Creed games that focused on stealth, Valhalla emphasizes large-scale battles and open combat, making it one of the most popular entries in the franchise.
Figment – January 9
Developed by indie studio Bedtime Digital Games, Figment is a 2017 action-adventure game where you play as Dusty, embarking on a whimsical journey with your friend Pipper. The game blends humor, a rich narrative, and music as you explore the mind’s inner workings and help restore lost courage.
Super Mega Baseball 4 (EA Play) – January 11
Available through EA Play, Super Mega Baseball 4 is a baseball simulation game launched in June last year. It features over 200 baseball legends and combines realistic simulation with arcade-style gameplay. This is an excellent place to start if you’re new to baseball simulators.
We Happy Few – January 11
We Happy Few is a first-person action-adventure game that mixes role-playing, roguelike mechanics, and survival elements. Set in a retro-futuristic version of the 1960s, players must escape the city of Wellington Wells, where society is unraveling, and the population relies on a hallucinogenic drug to avoid facing harsh truths.
Resident Evil 2 – January 16
Set in the infamous Raccoon City, Resident Evil 2 is a survival horror game in which you play as Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, a college student who struggles to survive a zombie-infested city. The gameplay combines exploration, puzzle-solving, and combat, delivering a tense, atmospheric experience.
Those Who Remain – January 16
Released in 2018, Those Who Remain is a survival shooter where you face waves of infected enemies. It would help if you fended off threats using various weapons and perks while scavenging for resources. Fans of games like Left 4 Dead will find a similar thrill in this title.
Games Leaving Xbox Game Pass
Microsoft is removing several games from Xbox Game Pass to make room for new additions. Titles leaving on January 5 include Garden Story, MotoGP 22, Persona 4 Golden, Persona 3 Portable, and Grand Theft Auto 5.
