Xbox Cloud Gaming Now Available on Select Amazon Fire TV Sticks, Enabling Big-Screen Gaming
Punjab News
Microsoft has launched its Xbox app for the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K and Fire TV Stick 4K Max, allowing gamers to experience the latest titles on a larger screen. This announcement follows last month’s reveal that the Xbox TV app would be accessible on select Amazon Fire TV sticks, providing Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers the opportunity to enjoy various games on their TVs.
To play the latest titles available through Xbox Game Pass, users need a compatible Fire TV Stick, an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, and a wireless controller. Only the Fire TV Stick 4K and the Fire TV Stick 4K Max, released last year, are compatible with this new Xbox app.
Microsoft is reportedly working on enabling Xbox Cloud Gaming users to stream the entire Xbox library later this year, although some publishers may opt out of participating. The company had previously announced plans for users to stream their existing game libraries, but this functionality has faced indefinite delays. Furthermore, due to pricing challenges, Microsoft has abandoned its plans for a dedicated subscription-based Xbox Cloud Gaming service and the much-speculated Xbox Cloud gaming console.
In December last year, Microsoft expanded its reach by bringing the Xbox Cloud Gaming app to Meta Quest users, allowing them to play popular titles like Forza Motorsport and Starfield on a virtual big screen. The service is also available on iOS devices, Windows 10 PCs, and select Samsung Smart TVs. For reference, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is currently priced at ₹549 per month, while the Fire TV Stick 4K can be purchased for ₹5,999.
Microsoft Unveils All-Digital Xbox Consoles and New ‘Doom’ Title at Games Showcase
At the recent Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft introduced a new disc-less version of the Xbox Series X, a special 2TB Series X, and trailers for highly anticipated games such as Doom: The Dark Ages and the next installment of Call of Duty. The event underscored Microsoft’s commitment to Xbox Game Pass, with many new titles launching on the subscription service on their release day.
Kicking off its annual Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday, Microsoft presented a fresh all-digital version of its Xbox Series X and S consoles and trailers for over a dozen upcoming games, including the latest Call of Duty installment. This showcase is critical for both Xbox and the broader gaming industry, which faces declining sales, layoffs, and studio closures.
Among the hardware showcased were the disc-less Xbox Series X and S versions and a special edition of the Series X boasting two terabytes of storage. This hardware refresh aims to bolster Xbox’s sales in a competitive market dominated by Sony’s PlayStation 5.
The showcase featured exciting new titles, including Doom: The Dark Ages, the latest entry in the iconic Doom franchise. It also included a sneak peek at the forthcoming Gears of War game, marking a highly anticipated return after a five-year hiatus for one of Xbox’s flagship series.
Many of the showcased games, including the new Doom and Call of Duty, will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch, demonstrating Microsoft’s strategic focus on the subscription service as it seeks to attract gamers during economic uncertainty.
Following the showcase, Activision Blizzard’s studios provided a special feature highlighting key elements, characters, and gameplay for the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, set to release in October. Developers from Treyarch and Raven Software shared gameplay clips from the campaign, which takes place in the early 1990s, showcasing a new movement system that allows players to sprint in all directions and a glimpse of the beloved Zombies mode.
